Newcastle: A guy named Aaron Evans thought he was clever hiding cocaine behind a fake electric socket in his home. But, as you can guess, it didn’t work out too well for him.

When the police showed up at his place in Scotswood, they found a tub of white powder, which turned out to be cocaine, along with cash and some drug paraphernalia. They even discovered that one of the sockets on his wall was just a front, hiding a stash of drugs behind it.

Evans got arrested, and the cops dug into his finances. Turns out, he had over £69,000 in unexplained income over two years. Not exactly a good look, right? Now, this 34-year-old is facing more than four years in prison after admitting to hiding criminal property and having drugs with the intent to sell.

During the court hearing, the prosecutor, Ruth Forster, explained how the police found cash in his bedroom and that tub of white powder. They also found that fake socket hiding more drugs. It was a pretty big bust.

They looked into his bank account and found that he had a lot of money coming in between January 2020 and May 2022, which he couldn’t really explain. The starting point for dealing class A drugs is four years in prison, so the magistrates decided to send him to the crown court for sentencing.

Evans was released on bail and is set to appear in court again on February 12. It’s a wild story, and it just goes to show that crime doesn’t pay!
