East Kilbride: A 19-year-old named Tya Miller was in charge of an XL Bully that attacked a man and his dog. The incident was pretty shocking, and it ended with the dog being shot by police.

So, Tya was looking after this dog, Kilo, right before a ban on XL Bullies kicked in. The dog went after Norman Beaton and his 14-year-old Border Collie, Drift, during a walk. It was a real mess.

Witnesses were horrified as they tried to break up the fight. Tya even yelled for someone to put the dog down. Thankfully, Mr. Beaton and Drift managed to escape before the armed officers arrived.

In court, Tya admitted she was responsible for Kilo. The sheriff decided she should pay £750 in compensation but didn’t think she needed to be banned from owning dogs. Tya felt really guilty about what happened and took full responsibility.

It turns out she didn’t have much info about Kilo’s temperament before taking him in. The sheriff noted that Tya had the dog on a lead, which played a part in her not facing harsher penalties.

New laws on XL Bullies came into effect last year, making it illegal to own one without a special certificate. They also have to be muzzled and on a lead in public. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
