Scotland Weather: Met Office Issues Rain Alert Amid Snow Blizzard Warning

Scotland faces rain disruption early next week, with snow blizzard warnings possible

Weather

Scotland, Stirling, Dumfries And Galloway, Strathclyde, Storm Eowyn

Scotland: The weather service has issued a yellow rain warning. Expect travel disruptions on Monday and Tuesday.

This warning starts at 9 PM on Monday, February 3, and ends at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 4.

The warning affects Stirling, Dumfries and Galloway, and Strathclyde.

The Met Office says heavy rain will continue into Tuesday morning. They expect 30mm of rain across the area, with 40 to 60mm in the hills.

Rain will clear from the west on Tuesday afternoon. This comes after Scotland dealt with Storm Eowyn, which caused a rare red weather warning.

Is a Scottish snow blizzard forecast?

The rain warning coincides with reports of a possible snow blizzard.

WXCharts shows a large weather system that could bring snow across the country next week. No warnings have been issued yet.

Some areas in the Highlands may see up to 11cm of snow.

Frank Saunders, the Met Office Chief Meteorologist, advises staying updated. A dip in temperatures is likely this weekend and into next week.

High-pressure systems will bring easterly winds, low temperatures, and a risk of snow and ice.

Keep an eye on the forecast for your area as the week progresses.
