Zach Michales, Kirkby, Hit-and-Run, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Honda Civic

Kirkby: A 15-year-old named Zach Michales is facing a tough road ahead. He was hit by a car while biking home on December 22. His family says the driver sped off, leaving him badly hurt.

Zach was struck by a Honda Civic, reportedly going around 70 mph. He suffered severe injuries, including multiple fractures and a punctured lung. He was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital by air ambulance.

After a week of surgeries, doctors had to amputate his right leg above the knee. His family is still coming to terms with the news. They say Zach is confused and unaware of the extent of his injuries.

His aunt, Shemina Wright, has set up a Justgiving page to support the family during this challenging time. They’ve raised nearly £4,000 so far.

Police are still searching for the driver of the grey Honda Civic that fled the scene. Detective Sergeant Andy Roper expressed disbelief that someone could leave a seriously injured person behind. They’re urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
