Harden: Police are looking into a really upsetting case of animal cruelty. It all happened at a high school in New South Wales where some pet ducks were tortured and killed.
Officers from the Hume Police District got called to the school on Smith St after reports came in about the ducks being harmed. This school is about 30 kilometers south of Young.
The ducks were kept in a secure enclosure and were well looked after by the school community. But someone managed to sneak onto the grounds and did some terrible things to them.
The school even posted on social media, asking anyone who knows anything about this awful incident to reach out to the police.
According to the school’s statement, the ducks were tortured and mutilated overnight. It seems this wasn’t the first time trouble had struck, as there had been previous damage to the school’s sprinkler system.
Police believe the cruel act took place between 6 PM on Wednesday and 8:30 AM on Thursday. Acting Inspector Mark Lake described it as deeply disturbing.
He emphasized how horrific it was for the ducks, who were clearly well cared for. It’s hard to believe someone would do something so cruel.
Former deputy prime minister Michael McCormack even shared the school’s post, insisting that those responsible should be found and face the consequences.
Police are urging anyone who might have seen something or has any footage from that night to get in touch with Young Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
