Allentown: So, Saquon Barkley is really going for it! He’s got his eyes set on breaking Eric Dickerson’s rushing record. Can you believe it? He’s been studying the game since he was a kid.

Barkley knows all about the greats. He remembers when LeSean McCoy set the Eagles record and how many yards Dickerson had back in the day. He’s not shy about it either; he wants to break records!

He said, “To be great, you’ve got to study the greats.” That’s his mindset. Right now, he’s at 1,623 rushing yards with four games left. To beat Dickerson’s 2,105 yards, he needs 483 more yards. That’s about 121 yards per game.

This Sunday, the Eagles are up against the Steelers, who have a solid run defense. But after that, they face teams that aren’t so great at stopping the run. So, he really has a shot!

Barkley knows the pressure is on. He’s aware of the record and what it means. He’s been thinking about it but also knows winning games is the priority. It’s a balancing act for sure.

If he has a big game soon, he could break the record before facing the Giants, his old team. But if the Eagles are already set for the playoffs, the coach might have to decide whether to let him chase the record or rest him.

It’s interesting to note that O.J. Simpson holds the single-season record for rushing yards per game. Barkley’s got a lot to think about, but he’s been studying the legends since he was a kid. He even dreams of being on TV after he retires, talking about football and life.

It’s exciting to see what he’ll do next. Will he break the record? We’ll just have to wait and see!
