Salford, UK, Dr. Wayne Davis, Sexual Assault, Crown Prosecution Service
Salford: A local GP, Dr. Wayne Davis, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting women during medical exams. It’s a shocking case that has left many in the community reeling.
Between 1995 and 2006, he performed unnecessary and intimate procedures on two women. The court heard how he abused his position of trust as a doctor. Gill Petrovic from the Crown Prosecution Service described him as a “highly respected man” who took advantage of vulnerable patients.
One victim, who sought help for gynaecological issues, was assaulted under the guise of a medical procedure. After years of worrying about what happened, she finally reported him in May 2020, leading to his arrest.
In June 2020, another woman came forward after hearing about the first victim’s case. She recounted a similar experience from 1995 when Davis performed an unnecessary examination on her.
Throughout the investigation, Davis denied the allegations, insisting that all procedures were necessary. However, he was found guilty of assault by penetration and indecent assault.
While he was acquitted of some charges, the damage done to his victims is undeniable. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of trust in the doctor-patient relationship and the need for accountability.
