The judge said his actions went way past what anyone would consider discipline. He forced his kids to choose between their two dogs and then drove off, leaving one behind. Imagine how those kids felt watching their dog chase after the car.
He also had a twisted way of dealing with their fears. One child, terrified of spiders, was made to lie in a cellar with a spider on her face. Just awful.
The abuse didn’t stop there. The kids were beaten for minor things, like accidents. It’s heartbreaking to think about what they went through.
In court, the prosecutor shared how this abuse left lasting scars. Some of the kids turned to alcohol, one even tried to take their own life, and another left the country as soon as they could.
The dad denied being abusive, claiming he was just a strict parent. But the jury saw through that. He was found guilty of multiple counts of child cruelty and actual bodily harm.
When sentencing him, the judge called him a bully and a sadist. He pointed out that this wasn’t just discipline; it was regular cruelty.
The judge also mentioned how times have changed. Back when these crimes happened, the maximum sentence was only two years. Now, it could be up to 14 years. But sadly, he was stuck with the old guidelines.
