New York City: So, Rudy Giuliani didn’t show up for his trial about whether he has to give up his Florida condo and some other stuff to the women he defamed. This was supposed to happen on Thursday, but he just didn’t make it.
Back in 2023, a jury told him to cough up a whopping $148.1 million to Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss. He falsely accused them of trying to steal the 2020 election in Georgia, which was a big deal.
Since then, he’s handed over some watches and even a classic Mercedes-Benz that used to belong to actress Lauren Bacall. But now, the court is looking at whether he also has to give up his condo in Palm Beach, which he claims is his main home.
There’s also the matter of three New York Yankees World Series rings that might have to go to Freeman and Moss. A judge recently said Giuliani’s son should keep the rings safe while all this is sorted out.
Giuliani’s had a rough time lately. He’s been disbarred in New York and D.C., and he’s been found in contempt of court twice this month alone. The judge said he’s been stalling and not giving the financial info needed for the $148 million judgment.
His lawyer, Ted Goodman, claims the contempt ruling is just a way to silence Giuliani and that many people don’t understand what’s really going on due to biased media coverage.
Freeman and Moss have shared how Giuliani’s lies have affected their lives. Freeman said money can’t fix everything and that she misses her home and the life she used to have. It’s a tough situation for them.
