Tunbridge Wells: So, there’s some news about a road closure that’s going to shake things up a bit. A route that many drivers use to dodge the busy A264 Pembury Road is getting shut down for urgent work.
This closure is all about fixing kerbs and safety posts, and it’s set to last for up to 19 days starting January 13. The work will happen daily from 7am to 7pm, so plan accordingly!
Drivers usually take Cornford Lane to skip the traffic on Pembury Road, which connects to the A21 and M25. But now, they’ll have to find another way around.
The detour will take folks via Cornford Lane, High Street, Pembury Road, and Halls Hole Road. Just a heads up, Cornford Lane will be closed from Aspens Services to Muxelwell Farm during this time.
Now, if you’ve ever driven down that rural lane, you know it can be a bit of a white-knuckle ride. It’s narrow in spots, and with all the traffic trying to squeeze through, it can get pretty congested.
Halls Hole Road isn’t much better. It’s got solid stone walls, twists and turns, and no pavements, making it tricky for cars to pass each other. Plus, it’s on a hill, so night drivers might find themselves blinded by oncoming headlights.
Kent County Council has made it clear that this closure is necessary for safety reasons. So, if you’re in the area, keep an eye out for the changes and drive safely!
