Birmingham: So, there’s this guy, Ben Noden, who worked as a roofer. He was asked by his boss, Peter Round, to help manage some cryptocurrency trades. Sounds like a good opportunity, right?
But here’s the twist: a year later, Peter found out that nearly £200,000 worth of crypto had vanished. He called the police, and Noden ended up in court, pleading guilty to theft and fraud.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Noden had been siphoning off money for over a year. He was transferring huge sums, like £12,000 a day, while still pocketing his regular wage of £400. Talk about betrayal!
Peter, who’s now 68, said he was counting on that money for retirement. He had built up the account over years, hoping to grow it to half a million with some expert help. But instead, he’s left in a tough spot.
He mentioned how he worked hard in roofing, putting everything into this investment, only to have Noden take it all away. It’s heartbreaking to think about how much trust was broken here.
Now, Noden, who’s from Shipston-on-Stour, is set to be sentenced next month. It’s a real cautionary tale about trust and the risks involved in managing money, especially in the crypto world.
