Romsey: So, there’s been some buzz about the Edwina Mountbatten House in Romsey. Churchill Living wants to put up new hoardings around the place, and they’re planning to feature some adverts.

This whole thing came up at a planning meeting on January 10. The folks at Romsey Town Council decided to object to the application. Cllr John Parker was a bit skeptical, saying it was hard to judge without any photos to see what’s what.

He joked about his 40 years of planning experience, which is pretty impressive! But he also pointed out that the adverts don’t really show what the developers plan to build there.

Cllr Mark Cooper chimed in, saying he felt the application was a bit self-serving. He worries about how the adverts will affect the neighbors living nearby for months. He’s not a fan of the idea as it stands.

Then there’s Cllr John Critchley, who raised concerns about the hard standing and whether it could be dangerous at that junction. The committee ultimately voted to object to the application.

This all comes right after the developers got the green light to build nearly 50 retirement flats on the site. Just a month ago, they won an appeal against the council’s earlier decision to block their plans. So, it looks like they’re moving ahead with demolishing Edwina Mountbatten House soon.
