Werribee: So, there was this rock climber who just wanted to enjoy some peace in the Aussie bush. But guess what? He heard a noise that totally flipped his day upside down. As he was climbing solo, he spotted a pair of eyes staring up at him from a deep crevice. It turned out to be a goat stuck in a four-meter hole!
Brett Dodemaide, the climber, quickly realized he couldn’t get the goat out on his own. He was just climbing in that area by chance, and it was a lucky break for the goat. He scrambled to find wildlife rescuers on his phone, but as the sun set, he had to call it a night.
The next morning, Brett and the rescuer, Manfred Zabinskas, returned to the scene. They were worried the goat might be in trouble since she didn’t greet them right away. But after a few tense moments, she popped back up, still stuck and needing help.
Manfred had a plan. Instead of trying to shoot the goat with a tranquilizer, he used a long pole with a syringe attached. After some careful work, they managed to sedate her. Brett then climbed down to get a rope around the goat’s horns, which was no easy feat!
Finally, they pulled the 40-kilogram goat out of the crevice and sent her off to the vet. She’s going to be just fine! Manfred was relieved, especially since they were working on a cliff with a huge drop behind them. It was a risky situation, but they pulled it off.
Manfred shared the story online, saying it was a nice way to end the year with a little miracle. And you know what? That little white goat is definitely going to have a happy new year!
