Starting April 1, Everyone Active will take over as the new leisure operator. This change follows a long process to improve local facilities.
Julie Gooding, a local councillor, has been involved in these plans. She values the social aspect of leisure centres and believes these changes are vital for residents.
Gooding mentioned that the upgrades will enhance accessibility. She is confident that Everyone Active will help achieve these goals within the year.
The new deal gives Everyone Active control of the council’s leisure facilities for 15 years.
Planned upgrades include a gym extension at Clements Hall, a new soft play area, and better swimming pool access. Rayleigh Leisure Centre will convert its creche into a spin studio and turn its turf pitches into padel courts.
Gooding hopes these changes will engage community members of all ages. She believes leisure centres play a key role in promoting health and wellness.
The upgrades will also focus on sustainability, with solar panels and LED lighting planned. These will be the first Rochford Council buildings to include carbon reduction measures.
