Rochford: So, Croudace Homes is gearing up to chat with locals about their plans for new homes on Hall Road. They’re promising a good chunk of affordable housing, plus some nice green spaces and play areas for the kids. Sounds pretty decent, right?
But not everyone is thrilled. Some folks are worried that Rochford might get hit with more of these speculative developments before the council finalizes its local plan. It’s a bit of a mixed bag.
Danielle Belton, a Conservative councillor, is cautiously optimistic. She appreciates the early talks with developers and the focus on affordable homes. Still, she’s concerned about the potential for more planning applications popping up without a solid local plan in place.
She emphasizes that Rochford has a lovely rural vibe, and it’s crucial to protect that green belt. She’s open to seeing the plans but insists that any new development needs the right infrastructure to support it.
As of now, Croudace Homes hasn’t officially submitted a planning application to the council. However, they’re hosting a meeting at the Women’s Institute Hall on January 23 to discuss their ideas. The first hour is just for councillors, but after that, the public can join in from 2 to 7 PM.
In an email, Croudace Homes expressed excitement about creating a vibrant community at Hall Road. They’re looking at building up to 300 homes, with half of them being affordable. Plus, they want to include plenty of green spaces and sustainable drainage systems.
They plan to submit an Outline Planning Application to the council in early 2025 and are eager to hear what locals think. It’ll be interesting to see how this all unfolds!
