Rotherham: A bus driver named John Webster, 41, got three years in jail for his part in some serious riots outside a hotel for asylum seekers. The judge didn’t hold back, saying he’s “utterly wrecked his life.”

Webster was right in the thick of it, getting into confrontations with police outside the Holiday Inn Express back in August. The court even showed footage of him kicking at the police lines. Not a good look!

The judge pointed out that Webster had a pretty rough past, with 45 offenses under his belt, including some serious stuff like threats to kill. But he had turned things around after serving time and even got a job as a bus driver.

It’s a real shame, the judge said, that after making such progress, Webster threw it all away by joining the mob. He could have been at home, watching TV or doing something fun, but instead, he chose to get involved in the chaos.

During the riots, over 60 police officers were injured, and the hotel was surrounded by around 400 people. It was a scary scene, with some rioters even trying to break into the building.

The judge made it clear that this wasn’t about legitimate protest; it was just mob mentality and violence. Webster admitted to violent disorder, and now he’s facing the consequences of his actions.

It’s a tough lesson, but it shows how quickly things can spiral out of control. More than 60 people have been jailed for their roles in this mess, and it’s a stark reminder of the impact of such violence.
