But then, just two hours before he was supposed to clock out, he hit the safety button on his taxi radio. That’s when things took a terrible turn. When the police showed up, they found him slumped over in his seat, shot in the chest.
His cab had rolled back into a fence, and it was clear he had been in trouble. The taxi sign was off, and the pay meter showed a fare of just $10.70. Fast forward over 30 years, and no one has been charged for his murder.
Recently, the NSW Police announced a $500,000 reward for any info that could crack this cold case. A coronial inquest back in 1991 found he was shot by someone unknown. Witnesses even saw a guy shaking and kicking him before running off.
They described the suspect as a young man, tall and slim, with dark hair and wearing light jeans and a matching jacket. It’s heartbreaking that his family has been waiting for answers for so long. The Unsolved Homicide Squad is back on the case, hoping to finally bring some closure.
