Mumbai: So, there’s this huge mess with the Torres Jewelry company. They’ve allegedly scammed around 1.25 lakh investors, and it’s all over the news. The head accountant, Abhishek Gupta, tried to alert the police about the fraud, but it seems like things got delayed.

Gupta filed complaints with the Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate, claiming the company was up to no good. He even tried to meet with officials to discuss the fraud, but it looks like no one took him seriously at first.

He first raised the alarm on December 30, but by then, the main suspect had already made a run for it before the police could swoop in. Gupta even went to the police station for protection after getting some threatening calls. Can you believe that?

The police said he visited Byculla station to report those threats. Meanwhile, the jewelry chain is pointing fingers at Gupta and their CEO, saying they were involved in vandalizing the stores. It’s getting messy!

This whole Torres Jewellery scam kicked off in February 2024, targeting a specific group of people. They had six stores around Mumbai and were luring folks in with promises of crazy returns on jewelry purchases and big rewards for referrals. It was like a Ponzi scheme wrapped in shiny jewelry.

They even had these wild lucky draws for expensive phones and cars, all to make people feel secure about their investments, which turned out to be fake. The company kept raising the payout margins, trying to get more people to invest, and then suddenly, they just shut down.

Now, about 1.25 lakh investors are left hanging, many of whom don’t have much money to spare. The company is blaming a few rogue employees for the mess, but they just announced they’re going to resume operations. They made the announcement on their official YouTube and Instagram channels. What a rollercoaster!
