Recently, Hampshire Constabulary issued a dispersal order. This was after reports of teens acting badly. The order was active on Tuesday, allowing police to clear the area.
One resident, who has lived there for 15 years, mentioned a group of 12 to 15 teens passing through. He said they dented his car for no reason. He’s frustrated by their late-night noise and mess.
He wonders where the parents are. He thinks it’s not okay for kids to be out so late. He’s glad the police are taking action, as he feels things have worsened in the last six months.
Police provided an update on the situation. They explained the dispersal order was to handle disruptive behavior. They received reports of intimidating actions from a large group of teens.
There was also a report of a motorbike theft on Romsey Road. Inspector Andrew Proctor from the Southampton Neighbourhood Policing Team said the order has helped reduce reports of trouble.
Some residents, however, have had positive experiences with local teens. Jenni Boulter, a resident for a year, sees groups of teens and thinks they lack places to go. She finds the young people she meets in Lordshill to be friendly and just looking for fun.
