Perth: A fire broke out in a resident’s kitchen, and it was a tough situation. Neil MacDonald, who has lived there for five years, got a call from his neighbor about the flames.
When he rushed back, the street was blocked off with police and fire engines everywhere. It was a scary scene, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
Neil suspects the fire started from a faulty fridge freezer his landlord had bought. He mentioned that if it had gone unnoticed for another hour, things could have been much worse.
He was lucky that the two flats above him were empty. The firefighters managed to contain the fire to the kitchen, which was a relief.
Sadly, Neil lost some precious items in the fire. He had a picture that meant a lot to him, a memory of a miscarriage with a pregnancy test attached. It was the only one he had, and now it’s gone.
Right now, he’s staying at his mom’s place in Craigie, but his landlord is offering him a hotel or temporary accommodation. Neil is also heading on holiday soon, which will give the letting agency time to sort out his flat.
Mike Lindsay, who owns Club 300 nearby, saw smoke pouring out of the house and thought it was his gym on fire. Emergency services were quick to respond, arriving shortly after the alarm was raised.
Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they were called at 4:11 PM and sent two appliances to handle the small kitchen fire. They wrapped up their work by around 5:40 PM.
