Reporter Allegedly Attacked by Man Claiming ‘This is Trump’s America’
A Colorado reporter was assaulted by a man who made political remarks during the incident, highlighting tensions surrounding media and politics.

Grand Junction: So, there was this wild incident where a reporter got attacked by a guy who was all fired up about politics. The attacker, Patrick Thomas Egan, rolled up next to the reporter, Ja’Ronn Alex, and started throwing around some pretty aggressive comments about citizenship and Trump.
Apparently, Egan was really worked up, claiming he was a Marine and that he took an oath to protect the country from people like Alex, who he thought didn’t belong. It all went down at a stoplight while Alex was just trying to do his job.
Things escalated quickly. Egan tackled Alex and put him in a headlock, which sounds terrifying. Witnesses said Alex looked like he was struggling to breathe, and thankfully, some co-workers rushed out to help him.
This isn’t just a random attack, either. It’s part of a bigger trend where journalists are facing more hostility, especially with the political climate being what it is. Trump has been known to call the media all sorts of names, which doesn’t help the situation.
In fact, a report from the Freedom of the Press Foundation noted a significant rise in assaults on journalists this year. It’s a tough time for the press, and many journalists are feeling the heat, with a lot of them reporting threats and violence.
Interestingly, a survey showed that not everyone sees these attacks as a big deal. Some folks, especially those identifying as Republicans, don’t think political attacks on the media are a threat to press freedom. It’s a complicated issue, for sure.
