Pullman: So, guess what? Washington State is bringing in Jimmy Rogers from South Dakota State as their new head coach. Pretty exciting news, right?
Rogers has been making waves in FCS football, leading South Dakota State for the last couple of seasons. He took over just before the 2023 season and even led the team to a national title last year. They had a solid run until they faced North Dakota State recently, which ended their impressive 29-game winning streak against FCS teams.
Before becoming head coach, Rogers was part of the coaching staff since 2013 and played for SDSU himself. Now, he’s stepping into a new role at Washington State, which has had its ups and downs lately.
Last season, the Cougars started strong but hit a rough patch, losing three games in a row to finish the regular season. They’ve had some changes too, with their offensive coordinator moving to Oklahoma and their star quarterback entering the transfer portal.
Rogers is taking over after Jake Dickert left for Wake Forest. Dickert had a decent run, going 23-20 during his time there. It’ll be interesting to see how Rogers shakes things up at Washington State!
