Trey Lance Set for Significant Snaps with Cowboys This Sunday
Trey Lance is expected to play a key role for the Cowboys against the Commanders

Dallas: So, it looks like Trey Lance is finally going to get some real playing time this Sunday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was a bit coy when asked if Cooper Rush would start again. He said they’re keeping things under wraps until game day.
But it seems pretty clear that Lance will be in the mix against the Commanders. Jones has brushed off questions about why Lance hasn’t been playing, especially since the Cowboys aren’t in playoff contention anymore.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Lance is set to see “significant snaps” this weekend. Of course, Rush could still start, but Lance is ready to step up if given the chance.
It’s been a while since Lance has had a real shot. He hasn’t started a game since Week 2 of the 2022 season with the 49ers, when he hurt his ankle. The Cowboys picked him up from San Francisco before this season, and he’s looking to make an impression before he hits free agency in March.
Rush has been the starter since Dak Prescott got hurt, and he’s done okay, with a 4-4 record in his eight starts. He’s also got some financial incentives riding on his snap count, so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
If Lance gets those significant snaps, it could affect Rush’s chances of hitting his bonus. Rush has played just over 52 percent of the snaps this season, and he needs to hit a certain number to earn more cash. So, it’s a bit of a balancing act for the Cowboys.
