Philadelphia: So, it looks like the Sixers are considering bringing in Lonnie Walker IV. According to a report, they’re one of several teams interested in him.
Marc Stein mentioned that the Sixers, along with the Wolves, Heat, Nuggets, and Celtics, are all potential landing spots for Walker. He’s currently playing in Lithuania for Žalgiris Kaunas.
This season, Walker has played 16 games and is averaging 13 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. The cool part? Any NBA team can buy him out of his contract until February 18.
With the trade deadline coming up on February 6, the Sixers have an open roster spot. They had a good move this summer by signing Guerschon Yabusele, which turned out to be a great deal.
Walker had a brief stint with the Celtics on an Exhibit 10 contract but didn’t stick around. He was the 18th pick in the 2018 draft and has played 322 NBA games, with his last game being a loss to the Sixers.
Last season with the Nets, he averaged 9.7 points and shot 38.4% from three-point range. He’s shown he can score and is a solid athlete, which could be just what the Sixers need.
With some of their veterans not producing much and rookie Jared McCain out after surgery, adding Walker could really help boost their second unit.
