Paris: So, Renault’s Dacia brand just made a big move by cutting the price of its low-cost electric car by 2,000 euros. This is happening in France, and it’s part of a bigger trend to boost EV sales, which have been pretty sluggish lately.

With new emissions rules tightening up in Europe, car makers are scrambling to sell more electric vehicles. They need to hit a target where at least 20% of their sales are EVs to avoid hefty fines. But here’s the kicker: only about 13% of cars sold in the region last year were electric.

Dacia is now selling its Spring model for 16,900 euros, making it more competitive against China’s Leapmotor, which recently dropped its price to 14,900 euros. It’s a race to see who can offer the cheapest EV!

The new Spring will have a less powerful engine, with 45 horsepower instead of the previous 65 HP. But don’t worry, it still has the same battery, so you can expect a driving range of around 225 kilometers.

This price cut isn’t just a one-off; it’s already been rolled out in some other European markets too. Looks like the EV game is heating up!
