Greenville: A shocking incident unfolded in North Carolina over the weekend. A man named David Lever was arrested for allegedly killing three people at two different locations.
Lever, 55, is facing three murder charges after police discovered the bodies of an elderly couple and another man. The victims were found shot in their homes, and it’s all pretty unsettling.
The couple, Anthony and Paula Gribble, were 80 and 76 years old, respectively. They were found at their home, while 64-year-old Enrique Reyes was discovered at his place just a few miles away.
Authorities say the investigation covered four crime scenes, which is quite extensive. Lever, who works as a real estate broker, lived on the same street as Reyes.
He was taken into custody after police found him at one of the crime scenes. The sheriff’s office mentioned that the incidents seem connected, but they’re still looking into it.
During a press conference, Sheriff Paula Dance shared that Lever had a stash of weapons at his home and in his van. She also noted that there could have been more victims if not for the quick action of the Gribbles’ son, who held Lever at gunpoint until help arrived.
It’s still unclear what the connection is between Lever and Reyes, who was a professor at East Carolina University. Interestingly, the Gribbles had used Lever as their realtor back in 2014.
Lever appeared in court on Monday, where the judge ordered him to remain in custody without bond. As he was being led away, he reportedly had some choice words for the judge.
He’s set to return to court on January 29, and more charges could be on the way. This whole situation is just tragic and leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
