As the playoffs approach, we rank the top 14 quarterbacks vying for the Super Bowl
NFL, Quarterbacks, Playoffs, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos
Philadelphia: So, the NFL playoffs are just around the corner, and it’s all about the quarterbacks, right? If you’ve got a top-tier QB, your chances of winning the Super Bowl shoot up. But if your guy is just okay, well, you might be in for a rough ride.
Looking ahead to the playoffs, teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are in a great spot thanks to their star quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. And don’t sleep on the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens, who have Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson leading the charge.
On the flip side, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos aren’t getting as much love. Baker Mayfield and Bo Nix just aren’t in the same league as those other guys. So, who should we keep an eye on as the playoffs unfold? Let’s break it down from the bottom to the top based on how they performed this season and in past playoffs.
Starting with Bo Nix from the Denver Broncos, he’s not a bad rookie. He helped Denver make the playoffs for the first time since 2015, throwing for nearly 3,800 yards and 29 touchdowns. But facing the Bills in the wild card round? That’s a tough ask for a rookie.
Then there’s Russell Wilson with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His first year was promising, but the team hit a rough patch at the end of the season. It’s hard to see them pulling off an upset against Baltimore after a recent loss to them.
Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders is next. He’s had a solid year, but he’ll need to step it up against a tough opponent after losing to them earlier in the season. Jordan Love from the Green Bay Packers is also in the mix, but he’s had his struggles this year, making it tough for the Packers to go far.
Sam Darnold with the Minnesota Vikings had a great season overall, but one bad game can really hurt your reputation. He’ll need to bounce back in the playoffs. C.J. Stroud from the Houston Texans had a bit of a sophomore slump, and he’s facing a tough challenge against the Chargers.
Justin Herbert is doing his best with the Los Angeles Chargers, but he’s got to elevate his game if they want to make a deep run. Jalen Hurts from the Philadelphia Eagles has had a solid season, but he’s not quite the dual-threat he used to be. He’ll need to step it up if the Eagles want to go far.
Baker Mayfield has had a career year with the Buccaneers, throwing for over 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. But can he keep it consistent in the playoffs? Matthew Stafford from the Rams is still a force, even with injuries around him. He’s got the experience to lead his team deep.
Jared Goff has really stepped up for the Lions, throwing a career-high 37 touchdowns. He’s in a great position to make a Super Bowl run. Lamar Jackson is a top talent, but he needs to prove himself in the playoffs. He’s got a chance against the Steelers, but the real test could come later.
Josh Allen is looking to finally break through after some tough playoff losses. He’s had a great season, but the Bills need more than just him to succeed. And at the top of the list is Patrick Mahomes. Even if he had a down year, he’s still the guy to beat when it matters most. He’s got the experience and the talent to pull off wins when it counts.
