Los Angeles: The Rams faced some serious challenges this week. Fires were raging around the city, forcing them to move their game to Arizona. But they didn’t let that stop them.
They came together and pulled off a solid 27-9 win, moving on to the divisional round. Their defense was on fire, putting pressure on Darnold and racking up nine sacks, which tied a postseason record.
One of the biggest plays was a strip-sack by Ahkello Witherspoon. Rookie Jared Verse scooped up the ball and took it 57 yards for a touchdown. Talk about a game-changer!
According to ESPN, the Rams made history as the first team since the 1970 merger to have at least eight sacks and a defensive touchdown in a playoff game. Pretty impressive, right?
In the first half, they scored three touchdowns. Matthew Stafford was on point, throwing two touchdown passes—one to Kyren Williams and another to Davis Allen.
They extended their lead to 27-3 with a 44-yard field goal early in the third quarter. The Vikings finally got on the board with a touchdown pass from Darnold to T.J. Hockenson, but it was too little, too late.
Even after scoring, the Vikings went for a two-point conversion but failed. Darnold struggled again, finishing with 245 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and a fumble.
Stafford, on the other hand, had a great game, completing 19 of 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. With this win, the Rams are set to face the Eagles next Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. Can’t wait to see how that goes!
