Montreal: So, Julie Snyder, a well-known TV host in Quebec, just opened up in court about a really tough experience. She testified that Gilbert Rozon, the founder of Just for Laughs, sexually assaulted her back in 1991 when she was just 23.

She shared that she was invited to stay at the Just for Laughs apartment in Paris. After falling asleep, she woke up to find Rozon assaulting her. It’s heartbreaking to hear how she kept quiet for so long, worried it would hurt her career.

But in 2017, after hearing other women come forward with similar stories, she decided to report him to the police in Montreal. It’s part of a bigger civil lawsuit where nine other women are also suing Rozon for their own experiences.

The judge, Chantal Tremblay, is handling all these cases together, which is pretty significant. Rozon, now 70, has denied all the allegations, claiming the women have influenced each other’s stories. It’s a tough situation, and it’s important that these voices are heard.

This whole thing really shines a light on the issues of sexual assault and the courage it takes to speak out. It’s a big moment for Julie and for all the women involved.
