Merthyr Tydfil: It’s such a sad story. A puppy named Sprout was found abandoned in a village, and sadly, he didn’t make it. Just a day before, three dead dogs were discovered in a car park, which is really concerning.

Sprout was discovered tied to a tree, looking really sick. He was only about nine months old. A local dog walker found him and took him to a pet shop, where he was later taken in by a charity called Friends of Animals Wales. They found out he had parvovirus, which is pretty serious.

Tragically, Sprout’s health got worse overnight, and he passed away on New Year’s Eve. Eileen Jones, who runs the charity, expressed how heartbreaking it is. She mentioned how wrong it is for someone to abandon such a young dog in such a terrible state.

The charity is working with the RSPCA to find out more about what happened, especially since the incidents seem connected. They’re hoping someone might have information about where these dogs came from.

It’s been a tough time for the charity lately. They also took in another dog named Tinsel, who had a really bad leg infection. Thankfully, Tinsel is recovering after surgery, but she’ll need to adjust to life on three legs.

Eileen shared that it’s been a rough year with one sad case after another. But she also praised the volunteers and supporters who help these animals. They’re the real heroes in all of this.

Local vets are being informed about the parvovirus case, and Eileen reminded everyone who got a puppy over Christmas to make sure their pets are vaccinated before taking them out.

If anyone knows anything about Sprout or the other dogs, they can reach out to Friends of Animals Wales or the RSPCA. It’s important to report any cruelty or neglect, and there are resources available for that.
