Prominent Llandudno Hotel Now Under Offer Amid Calls for Upgrade
A well-known hotel in Llandudno is under offer, sparking hopes for much-needed renovations and improvements.

Llandudno: A popular hotel in Llandudno is now under offer, and it’s about time! The Marine and County hotels have been in need of some serious upgrades for a while now. They shut down back in 2020 when Shearings went under but reopened in 2021 with Bespoke Hotels managing them.
Things looked up for a bit, bringing back jobs and visitors, but last year, they were put up for sale. The Marine was listed for £5 million, while the County started at £3.5 million but dropped to £2 million later. Both hotels are still operating, though.
The County Hotel has 150 rooms and is located right at the busy junction of Queens Road and The Parade. Reviews on TripAdvisor are all over the place. One guest called it the “worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in,” while another said it was “dreadful.” But not everyone felt that way; some guests from Bedfordshire had a “great stay” and appreciated the “lovely welcome.”
There’s hope that with the hotel now under offer, new investment could come in to spruce things up. Christie and Co, the agency handling the sale, mentioned that the hotel has spacious public areas, many facing the sea. The ground floor features a large restaurant that can seat about 150 people, and it’s been recently redecorated.
Plus, there’s a cozy bar area that fits around 50 guests, and a separate pub that can hold up to 80 people, which is open to both hotel guests and the public. Down in the basement, there’s even a bar and stage area that can accommodate around 100 people. Sounds like a place with potential, right?
So, fingers crossed that the new owners will bring some much-needed TLC to these iconic hotels!
