Johnson, a solid ally of Trump, is keen to help push through some big plans. His son is actually a plebe at the Naval Academy, which makes this game even more special for him.
He mentioned that American families are eager for an “American First” agenda, and they’re already working on it. They want to hit the ground running in January.
The game is just one of the few chances they’ll have to talk about this agenda. There’s also a retreat planned for House GOP leaders right after Congress kicks off its next session in early January, likely in Baltimore.
Johnson said he and Trump will dive deep into their plans this weekend. They’re focusing on key issues like immigration and tax reform, which they hope to tackle early in 2025.
Some groundwork is already happening. Last week, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy met with Republicans to discuss cutting the federal budget. Trump has even tapped them to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency.
Fun fact: Trump attended the Army-Navy Game back in 2016, and the crowd went wild for him. Johnson joked about having to cheer for Navy since his son is there, but he’s excited for the game and the discussions ahead. It sounds like it’ll be a blast!
