Blackpool: A heartbreaking video shows Kiena Dawes, who was pregnant, sobbing in front of police after her ex-fiancé, Ryan Wellings, attacked her again. The footage was released by Lancashire Police after Wellings was convicted of assault.
In the video, recorded in April 2021, Kiena, seven months pregnant, is visibly shaken and worried about her unborn child. She shares her fears that Wellings would inform social services about her mental health issues, threatening to take her baby away.
Sadly, Kiena later took her own life, citing the ongoing abuse she faced. Just over a year after the video, she identified Wellings as her killer in a suicide note. He was found not guilty of manslaughter but guilty of assault and controlling behavior.
When police arrived, Kiena was alone and scared, surrounded by a mess in her room. She expressed feeling trapped, saying she had no one to turn to for help. Her words reveal the depth of her despair and the control Wellings had over her life.
She told the officer, “I just need it to stop,” highlighting the urgency of her situation. Kiena’s tragic story underscores the severe impact of domestic abuse and mental health struggles.
After her death, it was revealed that Kiena had left a note stating she felt “murdered” by Wellings. She described the pain she endured and hoped her story would prompt quicker action from authorities to help others in similar situations.
