Glasgow: A local restaurant owner is sounding the alarm after a brazen theft caught on camera. It all went down at The Thai Bar & Restaurant on Kilmarnock Road.

So, this guy walks in and asks for hot water for his Pot Noodle, claiming he was starving. The staff, feeling a bit sorry for him, decided to help out.

But here’s the twist: while they were busy, he was eyeing up the owner’s wife’s phone. The CCTV shows him checking around before he swipes it and slips it into his pocket.

Benjawan, the owner, said his wife was in the kitchen and didn’t even notice the phone was gone until about 15 minutes later when they couldn’t find it. They figured out it was stolen when they checked a linked watch.

His wife was in a panic because her credit cards were with the phone. They quickly called the banks to cancel them, but by then, the thief had already hit up Morrisons and racked up over £300 in charges.

Benjawan mentioned that they’re still seeing charges come through even after cancelling the cards. It’s clear this wasn’t just a random act; it was planned.

He expressed how disheartening it is, especially since his wife was just trying to be kind to someone who looked hungry. Now, he’s warning other local businesses to keep an eye out for similar scams.

Police Scotland has been notified about the incident, but it’s a tough lesson learned for the couple.
