He hurt his ankle in the first quarter but tried to tough it out, playing 13 minutes in the first half. Unfortunately, he didn’t come back after halftime. The Celtics announced he was doubtful to return, and he ended up with nine points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Luke Kornet took over at center for the second half. The game was a nail-biter, but the Celtics lost 118-114, falling just short in their comeback attempt.
After the game, coach Joe Mazzulla didn’t have much to say about Porzingis. He mentioned that they re-evaluated him at halftime but didn’t have any updates.
Interestingly, Jay King from The Athletic spotted Porzingis leaving the locker room and said he looked like he was walking fine without any brace on his ankle.
Porzingis had just made his season debut on November 25 and had played in 11 games. He had to leave a game earlier this month due to right heel pain but bounced back quickly.
The Celtics are gearing up for their next two games against the Indiana Pacers this Friday and Sunday at TD Garden. Let’s hope Porzingis is back in action soon!
