Portadown Paedophile Gets Four-Month Sentence for SOPO Breach
Kevin Christy, a registered sex offender, received a four-month sentence for breaching a sexual offences prevention order in Portadown
Portadown, Kevin Christy, Sex Offender, SOPO, Court
He was already in jail for a while, so he won’t actually serve more time. He was on remand and couldn’t find a proper place to stay while waiting for his case. The police are worried about his safety because there have been protests outside his mom’s house by some vigilante groups.
In court, they said he had been living at his mom’s place, which wasn’t approved by his risk manager. That’s a big no-no. The police had been trying to help him find a suitable place, but it didn’t work out. He got arrested for breaching the order just a day after they checked on him.
His lawyer mentioned that Christy had a tough time finding a place to stay. He even had a potential landlord back out when they found out about his past. It’s a real mess. The judge noted that he had already served time and gave him credit for his guilty plea, but the rules of the order still apply until 2029. It’s a complicated situation for him, that’s for sure.
