Police Warn Farmers After Blockade at Holyhead Port

Holyhead: So, the police have sent out a warning letter after farmers blocked the port. It’s been closed since Storm Darragh hit in December, but they’re planning to reopen it this Thursday.
These farmers staged a couple of blockades last November and December. They were protesting how the Westminster and Cardiff governments have been treating them.
Now, North Wales Police have put out this letter, which they shared on the Welsh Farmers Protests Facebook page. It basically says that if they protest again and break any laws, they could face prosecution.
The letter mentions that police know some folks involved in the protests might be linked to vehicles registered to them. Sure, people can protest peacefully, but there are limits, as the letter points out.
It goes on to say that under the Public Order Act, police can set conditions on protests if they think it could seriously disrupt the community. They even had a designated protest area at the port that wasn’t used during the last protests.
Interfering with key national infrastructure is a big no-no, according to the law. If someone’s actions disrupt the port’s operations, they could be in trouble.
North Wales Police are urging everyone to cooperate and keep protests peaceful. They’ve warned that ignoring this advice could lead to legal issues.
The letter was sent out as the port is about to reopen. The police say they have a good relationship with the farming community and want to keep it that way.
But the response on social media hasn’t been great. Some folks are calling it a “polite threatening letter,” while others think it’s just a scare tactic. They argue that if traffic is moving slowly, it’s not breaking the law.
