Police say Georgia man fled at speeds over 105 mph

Dacula: On January 7, a guy from Georgia decided to play a dangerous game. He turned off the lights on his Mercedes and sped away from the cops at over 105 mph. This all went down when the Priceville Police tried to pull him over for some traffic violations.

The driver, 20-year-old Tajinder Singh Mahil, didn’t just get in trouble for running from the law. He was also caught with THC edibles in his car. After his wild ride, he was arrested and later released on a $17,500 bond.

The police were trying to stop Mahil’s black Mercedes for changing lanes without signaling and reckless driving. But instead of pulling over, he hit the gas and took off, leaving the officers in the dust. They lost sight of him for a bit but eventually tracked him down with help from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

When they found him, the police could smell marijuana coming from the car. Mahil even admitted he had some THC edibles inside. Turns out, he had almost 16 grams of them.

Alabama recently toughened its laws on fleeing from police. Now, if you try to escape and cause an accident or injury, it can lead to serious felony charges. Mahil is facing a Class C felony for his attempt to elude the police.

Since the new police chief took over in Priceville, they’ve been cracking down on traffic violations along I-65. This has led to some big drug busts and seizures. The police are using these tactics to fight against the drug trade in the area.

In a related note, there’s a case going on where a man arrested for drug distribution is facing asset forfeiture. The police want to take his car and gun to help with law enforcement efforts.
