Kitakyushu, Japan, Saaya Nakashima, McDonald’s, Stabbing

Kitakyushu: It’s a really sad situation. Japanese police are on the lookout for a man who stabbed a 15-year-old girl and hurt a boy at a McDonald’s. This happened in southwestern Japan on Saturday night.

The girl, Saaya Nakashima, sadly lost her life, while the boy is in the hospital recovering from serious injuries. Witnesses say the attacker struck out of nowhere, which is just terrifying.

People who saw it described the guy as being in his 40s. He also went after another boy who was just standing in line. Thankfully, that boy survived, but he’s dealing with some serious wounds.

This all went down around 8:30 PM while the two were waiting in line. It happened so fast, in less than a minute, and there were about ten other customers there, too.

Saaya died from a stab wound to her abdomen, and the boy was hurt in the waist. He said the attacker was a total stranger, which makes it even scarier.

Both kids were just coming back from cram school and decided to grab a bite at McDonald’s. Now, police are treating this as a murder case, but they haven’t found any connection between the victims and the attacker.

Violent crime isn’t common in Japan, thanks to strict gun laws, but stabbings do happen from time to time. Remember the assassination of Shinzo Abe last year? That was shocking.

Back in 2019, a man in Kawasaki went on a rampage, stabbing a schoolgirl and injuring many others. It’s just heartbreaking to see these things happen.

In light of this recent attack, Kitakyushu city has decided to cancel all extracurricular activities and events at city-run schools and kindergartens for Sunday. It’s a tough time for everyone.
