The local police put out a warning on Facebook. They’re telling folks to double-check with their GP if someone calls about a home visit. And definitely ask for ID if someone shows up at your door. Apparently, this happened twice last week.
The man is said to be white, about 5ft 8in tall, with short grey hair and a goatee. He’s been calling himself “Gerry” and is thought to be driving a blue BMW.
In their post, the police mentioned that residents got calls about visits from a healthcare professional, but it turns out those calls weren’t legit. They stressed the importance of verifying any such visits with your GP directly.
If you get a call that seems off, take down the details and check it out. And if someone comes to your door, always ask for ID. Don’t just trust what’s on a card. If you’re unsure, don’t let them in.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they haven’t found any crimes committed yet, and they’re not sharing any images of the guy for now. If anyone knows anything that could help, they’re encouraged to call 101 or reach out online.
