Castleton: So, the police are back in the Peak District again, and it’s all about parking. This is the third day they’ve been dealing with it.

Winnats Pass and Rushup Edge were shut down by the police on Sunday because of cars parked all over the place. It’s a bit of a mess, really.

Apparently, around 200 cars were blocking gritting lorries and emergency services trying to help an injured walker near Edale on Saturday. Not cool!

On Monday, Derbyshire Police mentioned they were still having issues at Rushup Edge. They’re serious about it too—tickets are being handed out, and any cars parked dangerously might get towed.

A police spokesperson said it’s pretty straightforward: bad parking causes traffic jams and can even stop emergency vehicles from getting to where they need to go.

They’re planning to work with local authorities to sort this out in the coming days after the chaos from the weekend.

Derbyshire County Council confirmed that both Winnats Pass and Rushup Edge are now open after the police sorted out the parking mess.

They mentioned on social media that many cars got tickets or were towed away. Ouch!

Hope Valley police teams said they’re going after 21 drivers who parked on the clearway through Winnats Pass on Saturday. They’re not messing around.

A spokesperson from the county council said their gritters couldn’t do their job on Saturday morning because of all the double-parked cars in the area. It’s a real hassle.

They added that while they understand folks want to enjoy the Peak District, the parking situation is making it tough for everyone.
