Newport: A recent operation in Newport saw Gwent Police team up with the Home Office. They arrested two individuals and took four illegal e-bikes off the streets.
This all went down near the Subway on Newport High Street around 2 PM yesterday. Delivery drivers working for services like Just Eat and Deliveroo had their bikes taken away and were questioned by immigration officials.
There was quite a police presence outside the Subway, and it was clear they were serious about tackling this issue. A spokesperson for Gwent Police mentioned that they seized the bikes during this multi-agency effort.
Sergeant Paul Turner from Gwent Police explained that the operation aimed to address the illegal use of e-bikes in the city center. He emphasized their commitment to working with local partners to enhance safety in Newport.
Turner also thanked PC Andy Buchanan for his role in making the operation successful. He reassured everyone in Newport that their concerns are being heard and that they’re focused on reducing anti-social behavior in the area.
