Ottawa: So, Pierre Poilievre is really gearing up for the next federal election. He’s making it clear that he wants to focus on getting rid of the carbon price. He believes it’s just a tariff that the government is slapping on Canadians, which doesn’t sit well with him.

He spoke to reporters today, and it was the first time since Trudeau announced he’s stepping down. Poilievre is pushing for Trudeau to call a national election instead of waiting around.

Trudeau has put Parliament on hold until March, which means no debates for a while. He’s also planning to step down once a new leader is picked. With all the opposition parties ready to challenge the minority government, it looks like we might see an election this spring.

Poilievre has been ahead of Trudeau in the polls for quite some time. He’s confident that no matter who takes over the Liberal party, he’ll still be running against Trudeau because, in his words, “they’re all just like Justin.”
