When the firefighters arrived, the back of the bus was already blazing. You could see thick smoke billowing over the city. One person even mentioned they could see it from Saltash. It was a pretty wild sight!
Another local said there were huge clouds of smoke near Agaton House, and they had to close off the top of Budshead Road. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service got multiple calls about the fire, so they sent out two fire engines and a water bowser from nearby stations.
As the crews worked, they found the rear of the bus fully engulfed in flames. They quickly got to work using breathing gear and foam jets to put it out. Sadly, the bus was about 80% damaged, and two nearby cars also suffered from the heat.
Firefighters are still on the scene, keeping an eye out for any hotspots. Meanwhile, the police have closed off parts of the road while they manage the situation. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Just another day in Plymouth, right?
