Worcestershire: So, guess what? Platform Housing Group is on a mission to plant new trees all over Worcestershire. They’re doing this to replace trees that have been cut down because they were dead or sick. Pretty cool, right?
The whole idea is to make sure that for every tree that goes, a new one gets planted. It’s like a tree swap! Nicola Chamberlain, who heads up estate services at Platform, is really excited about this. She mentioned that they feel it’s their responsibility to help out with the climate crisis and support local wildlife.
They’ve got a list of 78 spots where they’ll be planting these new trees, not just in Worcestershire but also in places like Warwickshire, Derbyshire, and even Birmingham. It’s a big deal, and they’re putting around £14,000 into it. That’ll cover the cost of the trees, stakes, and all the work involved.
When they plant, they’ll try to put the new trees in similar spots to where the old ones were. They’ve got some great tree species lined up, like ornamental cherries and silver birches. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it?
Nicola also made it clear that they won’t just chop down trees for no reason. They’ll only do it if there’s absolutely no other choice. Trees are super important for everyone, including wildlife, and they’re happy to do their part to help with climate change.
