This upgrade is part of the PlayZone Programme by the Football Foundation. The program aims to improve access to sports for everyone, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
The proposal includes new benches, goals, and four basketball hoops. The court will be expanded from 23.5 by 14 meters to 30 by 20 meters. This new space will be available for local clubs and community groups.
The current facilities are described as “tired and unused.” The revamp will add four floodlights for year-round use, even in winter. If approved, the facility will promote physical activity through basketball and other sports.
Local clubs can use the court in the evenings and on weekends. Proposed hours are from 9 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week.
A report shows Nottingham needs more sports facilities, including artificial pitches and changing spaces. This development aims to provide a high-quality facility for community use.
The new court will complement existing facilities at the Forest Sports Zone, which includes a 3G pitch and indoor spaces for education and club activities.
