Merthyr Tydfil: Exciting news! The indoor market is moving to a new spot. The council has decided to set it up in the old Wilko store at St Tydfil’s Shopping Centre.
They’ve got some cool plans for the new market. It’s going to be a mix of modern vibes with some traditional touches. There’ll even be a sensory area and a space for performances and exhibitions.
Plus, they’re planning a produce market and a market academy to help future traders get started. After chatting with stallholders and locals, they’re hoping to have everything ready by Christmas. Councillor Jamie Scriven is really excited about this project. He mentioned how important it is to get the town centre right for everyone in Merthyr Tydfil. They listened to what the community wanted during the consultation and are making sure the new market reflects those ideas.
There will also be chances for pop-up stands, which is a great way for people to try their hand at market trading. They’re working with some talented architects to make this vision a reality. The goal is to have the new indoor market up and running by Christmas this year!
