Crookham Common: So, there’s this plan to turn a Nissen hut into a one-bedroom home. It’s been resubmitted, and it’s got some folks talking.

The proposal comes from Hannah Thorogood. She wants to change this old corrugated metal hut at Limberlost Farm into a cozy living space. It’ll even have two parking spots!

If the council gives it the green light, they’ll be making some changes. They’ll add new doors and windows, put in some walls, and make it all nice and insulated.

Right now, the hut is just used for storage. You can get to it via a private road off Crookham Common Road, which is pretty handy.

Good news is, there haven’t been any complaints about traffic or the environment. Plus, a recent bat survey showed no bats are living there, so that’s a relief.

Interestingly, Hannah’s had a tough time with this before. She’s tried to get similar plans approved three times, but they were turned down.

However, her second appeal was accepted last year because the council didn’t make a decision in time. Talk about a win!

Back in the day, these huts were often used for storage or emergency housing after World War II. Today, only three of them are left in the field.

The council is set to decide on this application on Tuesday, March 4. If you’re curious about planning applications in your area, check out the Public Notice Portal.
