Bridgend: So, there’s a new planning application in the works for a primary school in Kenfig Hill. The folks at Asbri Planning have put in the request to the council.
If the council gives it the green light, they’ll tear down the old Mynydd Cynffig Primary School and some nearby facilities, including the Air Training Corp and allotment gardens.
The new school is set to have 420 primary spots and 75 nursery places. Plus, they’re planning all-weather sports pitches, floodlighting, and even solar panels. Sounds pretty cool, right?
They’re also looking to move the Pwllygath allotments to a new spot next to the school. This comes after some folks weren’t too happy about being moved last spring.
The application was submitted back in November, and it’s part of a bigger picture where several school projects have been delayed until the 2025-26 financial year.
The vision for the new school is to create a top-notch facility that benefits everyone—students, staff, and the community. They want it to be a place where teachers love to teach and kids are excited to learn.
They’re not just focusing on the building itself; they’re also planning for outdoor learning spaces. There’s going to be a nice landscaping scheme with a pond, bio-retention areas, and even an orchard. How great is that?
Now, the plans will be reviewed by the council’s planning authority soon, so we’ll have to keep an eye on that. If you want the latest updates on Bridgend, signing up for the newsletter might be a good idea!
