Weymouth: The proposal for new flats on the seafront has been refused. The site is where the old Barclays Bank used to be, behind the Black Dog pub. Weymouth Town Council supported the changes, but there were objections from Dorset Council’s Environmental Protection team.

They raised concerns about noise from the pub and smells from a nearby fish and chip shop. They felt these issues weren’t properly considered for future residents. There was also a worry about overlooking neighboring buildings from the top floor flat.

In another decision, plans to redevelop a nursing home site on Glendinning Avenue were also turned down. This proposal included building four semi-detached homes and demolishing several existing buildings.

However, a plan to convert a betting shop on the Esplanade into an adult gaming center was approved by planning officers. Other projects, like extensions to beach huts and homes, received approval as well.
